Norman Vincent Peale was born in Bowersville, Ohio in 1898. He received his education at Ohio's Wesleyan University. At the age of 34, he got an offer from Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan to work as a researcher. Besides writing books, he delivered motivational speeches at many places. He inspired many other self-help book authors until his death in 1993.
