Napoleon Hill was born in a poor family at Pound River in rural Wise County, Virginia. At the initial days, he used to earn his bread as a ‘mountain reporter’ by working for small newspapers of the town. Through the money earned, he got himself admitted to a law school but was not able to continue it long due to the financial crunch. However, his life took the big leap forward when he was asked to interview some of the big names to write down their biographies. During his assignment, he met Andrew Carnegie who was so mush impressed by him that he commissioned him for a book to develop a formula for being successful through interviewing 500 successful men and women and many of them were millionaire. It was after the efforts of 20 years that he revealed his book Think and Grow Rich.

For the book, he interviewed big names like Henry Ford, Elmer Gates, Charles M. Schwab, Thomas Edison, William H. Taft, Alexander Graham Bell, Theodore Roosevelt, William Wrigley Junior, John Wanamaker, George Eastman, WIlliam Jennings Bryan, Woodrow Wilson, etc. His book was big success on self-help for those suffering from financial crisis. Its success can be measured from the sell of seven million copies on it release.

However, many have also complaint about the book that knowledge and information given in it is vague like frequent reference to the sixth sense; ‘don't be a ship at sea without a course’, etc. The vague information is often considered unnecessary by the readers as it makes them lost their interest. Many have argued that the book is based on quotes and it does not provide any worthwhile information to help the readers in their business, training or any other work.
