He was born in Liverpool, in 1950 and he lives in Los Angeles now. He received his PhD from the University of London in 1981 for research into drama and theater in education.

Ken Robinson has gained international fame as an advocate on the importance of the arts and creativity in education. His research on education and creativity has significant impact in places including and . He served as an adviser to the respective governments in these two places.
