ProgramCritique.com Review:

Dale Carnegie was an American author, lecturer, and a pioneer in public speaking, self-development, and the psychology of personality improvement. He became famous for the courses he developed that stressed interpersonal skills and public speaking. He became famous by teaching other people how to become successful in their lives. Dale Carnegie was an early supporter of the ‘responsibility assumption’ theory. Carnegie advocated that you could correct the behavior of other people by changing one's response to them.

Dale Carnegie was born on November 24, 1888 on a farm in Maryville, Missouri. His original name was Dale Carnegey. His parents were very poor and lived on a ranch. In his younger years, he used to get up at three o’clock in the morning to milk his parents' cows. He studied at the State Teacher's College in Warrensburg, Missouri. He was an active member of the debating clubs in his high school and college. After his graduation, he sold correspondence courses to ranchers before he became a salesperson for Armour & Company, where he successfully sold soaps, bacons and lards. In his later years, Dale Carnegie taught public speaking to executives and businesspersons. He died in Forest Hills, New York on November 1, 1955.

Dale Carnegie was the author of the book How to Win Friends and Influence People. This book was first published in 1936. It has sold over 15 million copies. It is a record for a nonfiction book.  How to Win Friends and Influence People has been translated into many languages and remains popular even today. The book teaches you how to unravel the problem of influencing and getting along with the people involved in your social and business life.

With most college courses concentrating on the traditional topics of business, books written by Dale Carnegie give important information on dealing with people. This book is very helpful for individuals involved in a profession like management or selling, which needs a lot of public speaking. For many college courses that concentrate on the conventional method of business, this book offers key information on how to deal with people in their day-to-day life.

Dale Carnegie also authored a biography of Abraham Lincoln titled Lincoln the Unknown and numerous other books. Lincoln the Unknown is a captivating story of less known facts about the 16th President of the . His other books comprise Public Speaking and Influencing Men in Business, published in the beginning of his writing career in 1931 and How to Stop Worrying and Start Living, published in 1948.

Courses of Dale Carnegie and his books are still as applicable today as they were when he had authored them. The Dale Carnegie Course is a program that emphasizes self-improvement and interpersonal skills. Franchised trainers conduct this program all over the world using a standardized curriculum. The topics of The Dale Carnegie Course include conversational techniques, small group interaction skills, problem resolution, significance of memorizing names and memory techniques.

I would recommend The Dale Carnegie Course and the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People" to the people who want to improve their personal, selling and management skills. The Dale Carnegie courses and books are a good investment if you want to be successful in the world of business.
