You should understand legality of coupons to recognize the fraudulent ones. A true coupon is only for the consumer who buys product for which the coupon is printed. You cannot transfer or sell coupons; it is a third-party violation of manufacturer’s coupons and redemption policies. In many cases, such sale or transfer can nullify coupon.
Although many American businesses offer legal coupons in thousands to save consumer’s money, there are an equal number of fraudulent promoters making money by marketing illegal coupons. Small business operators tying to eke outliving from simple opportunities or charity organizations trying to earn better money for their welfare activities walk into their trap easily. Some consumers are wary of dealing with many detailed procedures for completing complicated forms and fees are happy to receive same manufacturer’s coupons.
Unscrupulous promoters operate such fraudulent schemes by providing such business opportunity to an investor. Investor sells coupon certificate booklets to customers. These have around twenty to fifty certificates with redeemable coupons of around $10 on each coupon. To redeem certificates for their coupons, you complete a form, select 30-50 products from list, and include processing fees and mail with a self-addressed stamped envelope. Investors and customers should make good money through these schemes. Instead, promoter is the only person making good money. Coupons do not have expiration date and hence, you lose money. Investors are unable to claim their earnings and consumers lose as they can cut coupons from newspapers themselves.
Coupon clipping and similar coupon schemes are all bogus. If you still want to take part in coupon business, take precautionary measures like inquire for total costs of program, details of company’s refund policies, payout details, ask for written agreement details and confirm with consumer protection agency or Better Business Bureau about company standings.
