ProgramCritique.com Review:

A calling service, which charges customers for information delivered on the phone. 900 numbers is the newly accepted practical way for companies to provide detailed technical help or post-warranty support to their customers easily.

It is an easy way to charge the customers for the extra assistance that some people demand quite often. Instead of raising prices to cover increasing support costs, many firms have turned to 900 numbers as a simple yet effective way to charge customers directly for phone assistance.

This service makes the whole affair easy to manage for the service providers as well as the customers. They provide you the convenience of automatic billing, and these expenses are directly added to the customer’s regular phone bill.

Implementing a 900 number is a subtle task and firms should be watchful to avoid offending their existing customers, especially those who are expecting certain levels of free support.

Since this service is d to be that reputable, before using them, one should think through the cost and benefits of the service before implementing a program.

While availing the 900 services, a caller dials a telephone number that uses 900 as the area code and immediately after connecting, the caller will hear a prelude explaining how the call will be billed. This feature allows the caller to decide when to hang up before charges begin to mount up.

After this message, either callers are handled by a dedicated service center or they are directly transferred to your company's offices.

Calls made are billed in one of two basic ways. One- you charge callers according to time spent on the phone. This fee can thus include a constant per minute charge, or can differ with the first few minutes. Two- Calls can also be billed on a fixed rate, which means a fixed rate regardless of time the caller spends over the phone.

Direct use of this service is feasible only for big companies, which have advanced PBX phone system. An automated attendant system is an added requirement, which would be relatively uneconomical for small companies. Smaller companies resort to a service bureau that not only provides the 900 number services but also helps design a program that will comply with all regulatory requirements.

However there are several issued related to billing of these calls that must be looked into by the service providers as well as customers. If all goes well, this service can be an instrumental tool in customer care services!
