During the early nineties, many people with ambiguous personalities appeared on Sonny’s radio show. Sonny Bloch paid them for their appearances on talk shows. People realized that Sonny was defrauding them to some extent. The final straw was Sonny’s sale of unregistered shares through Florida radio stations. This was illegal and soon he had the cops at his back. He fled to . His wife had a plantation on a mountaintop in . Thereafter, police could not trace his whereabouts.

However, extradition treaty helped cops to arrest Sonny Bloch from in 1995. From 1996, he had to serve around two years in a Newark prison, three years probation and 750 hours of community service. The sentence was mainly for tax evasion and false swearing. Sonny was not quiet even in the prison. He was counseling other prisoners on financial topics. He even tried to convince judge to free him. Poor health conditions led to his release from jail. Eventually Sonny succumbed to throat cancer in 1998.

Sonny Bloch gave false assurances to public that he had looked into possible business ventures even without glancing through them. Besides, he was earning handsome amounts on the sly for promoting such investments. One of Sonny Bloch’s books - Sonny Bloch’s inside Real Estate stresses on buying and selling of real estate at same time. He guides sellers to sell their property but maintain a clause in their contract. This clause says that seller cannot take possession of the flat until you find proper accommodation within a period. This time is useful for increasing your negotiating power and reducing excess mortgage payments. During his lifetime, Sonny Bloch was the biggest success and failure stories of radio shows.
