Charles Givens was born in Decatur, Ill. His father was a construction company owner but left his family. Hence, Charles’ childhood was in penury. Charles changed his outlook towards his life only after his teens. He set up a music-recording studio and a booking agency in the sixties in Nashville. Later, he worked in North Carolina in the seventies in real estate. He went on to become a millionaire.

Charles authored a bestseller Wealth Without Risk for Canadians in 1991. His second book was Financial Self Defense. Later, he authored many more books on personal investments. He slowly built up his empire in the eighties through his info commercials and motivating lectures. Most of his info commercials went the wrong way because of his wrong ideas and teachings. He advertised on his info commercials that he became rich by following steps as given in his book. Hence, he enticed his clients into buying his book to become rich. Many of his customers sued him for various instances of fraud and he had to pay more than $14 million dollars in penalties. In reality, Charles earned his fortunes only through the sale of his books.

Charles’ books mainly dealt with taxes, insurance, and investments. However, all such information was worthless and Charles insisted on some of his clients canceling their insurance policies. This put them in real trouble and Charles was the main reason behind all the trouble. Angry investors filed a suit against him and a jury slapped a $14.1-million judgment. Besides, a San Diego superior court judge issued orders to Givens, which prevented him from making any further wrong representations about achieving and earning a lot of money through his moneymaking plans and methods. 

Charles conducted workshops but on dubious grounds. One of his so-called friends presented the seminar and they wanted to sell memberships for Charles Givens Organization. The price was less by $300 for that day only. You had to pay $600 against the membership. The total seminar was just a farce and the presenter tried to create a mirage among the audience. He sights examples of Mr. Givens as having become rich through these methods. Most of these advices were outside the law and hence were responsible for many legal cases against Givens.

Givens charged around $400 to $900 for learning his secrets of becoming wealthy. His companies were in the eye storm of many legal suits for misrepresentations and fraudulent practices in the nineties. Soon thereafter, he filed for bankruptcy and lost control of his business. A judge planned a strategy of paying 25 cents on each dollar to his creditors. Givens tried to shield himself by transferring most of his assets to limited partnerships. Givens died of prostate cancer at the age of fifty-seven.
